Exhibition: Living in Societies Basement
Now you can see Taipei Bremen’s exhibition in the Burgary Hotel where you can, not only experience the art but also purchase it.
Taipei Bremen is a well know brand in the creative community, founded by Taipei artist Mickeyman, 5 years ago. When Mickeyman began Taipei Bremen, he had just finished his first job where he worked for only 3 mouths. He didn’t like his job. He quit. He pursued his dream, to be a comic artist. And Mickeyman is now a success in several countries.
His latest exhibition is called “Living in Societies Basement’’ reflecting the struggle of the common man.
The common man, Jane and John Doe, you and me. We work and struggle just to put food on the table and pay the bills. The stars and super heroes get all the fame and fortune but no one works longer, fights harder and has more day to day successes than the common man. Our successes may not be glamorous or manipulative but they are honest and ours and we can feel good.
When our bosses take the credit for our work, we know it was ours, we’re proud and we know our superstar boss doesn’t shine without us! And although we Live in Societies Basement, we can feel like Kings and Queens.
The story goes:
In all movies, animations and comic stories about good and evil, there are always the disadvantaged and heroes. They don't always have powerful skills. They don't have superpowers. They even don't have names. In a word, they are nobodies. They just do their job in the mega evil empire, such as staying up the giant bomb in the secret headquarters, or stopping the hero (only for a few seconds) to make evil boss to escape.(so the boss can even get some time to say the classic sentence just like"I'll be back!!")
Imagine a world without basic level fighters. The evil boss have to execute all details of the invading plan. And the Hero can't sweep they just in a punch. It won't be cool!
In this well-divided real world. You and I are actually basic level fighters. It's hard to tell us from our colleagues. Our company can easily find someone to replace us. We just do what they've told us. After work, our recreation are just watching TV and surfing the net. However, we don't have to be depressed! We should toast to this! Just do what we should do. Leave the annual invading plan for the Boss!
The exhibition is open from 1/30 to 2/26. You can see the exhibition in the lobby, 2F and 3F’s at the Burgary Hotel, visitors can also buy Mickeyman’s art products.
